Rust was originally a personal project of Mozilla employee Graydon Hoare, supported by the Mozilla Research Institute since 2009, and released to the public in 2010. Version 1.0 was released on May 15, 2015. During the development process, Rust has built a strong and active community and formed a set of perfect and stable project contribution mechanism, any developer can directly raise bugs to the project or directly contribute source code
In less than a year since late 2019, the Rust language has certainly made some waves. Starting with Microsoft’s exploration of Rust as a safe alternative to C and C++, Rust has attracted more and more attention: kernel maintainers have expressed their willingness to embrace Rust for developing Linux drivers; AWS has extended an olive branch and announced its sponsorship of Rust; Microsoft went a step further by developing and open-sourcing Verona, a new programming language inspired by Rust, earlier this year; and most recently, Apple has recently come forward to embrace it, porting its C code to Rust.
